Original Xbox Games Losing LIVE Support

Effective April 15, 2010, the Xbox LIVE service will no longer support games from the original Xbox system – even those playable on the Xbox 360.  Xbox LIVE General Manager Marc Whitten says in a letter published today, “this isn’t a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration, it is clear this will provide the greatest benefit to the Xbox LIVE community.”

That means saying goodbye to old friends like Halo 2.

Whitten goes on to promise that the changes to the service will be beneficial in the long run, and goes on to assure members that, “the best is yet to come from Xbox LIVE.”
